Some would suggest that a change in the way that we approach clothing becomes immediately visible when looking at children of school age. Where we once would all have worn uniforms, it now seems that many schools have deemed that such garments are unnecessary.
Similarly, things have been changing in the workplace. Office environments used to demand that people working there should wear smart clothing. In the case of men, this almost always meant that it was obligatory to wear a suit.
This is no longer the case. Although many offices do favour the wearing of smart clothes, many allow employees to wear more casual clothing.
It's been suggested that the IT sector has played a role in these changes. Whatever the reasons, they are having a subtle impact on all of us.
Many us, no longer being required to wear a suit, no longer own such an item. This can cause considerable problems on the very rare occasions when we may need to wear one. The same, of course, applies to smart shoes.
Weddings are an example of an occasion where we might be expected to dress smartly. If you need to buy new shoes for such an event then you should aim to buy them well in advance.
Don't be tempted to leave your purchase until the last minute. If you do so, you won't have the opportunity to wear them in. This could result in your having to wear a very uncomfortable pair of shoes.
Decide on a style of shoes that suits the occasion, as well as your own personal taste.
Importantly, you should not forget to polish them too. By following these simple rules, you can ensure that you look the part.
